Jack & Beanstalk Revolting Rhyme

                    A) Select a section of the Jack & Beanstalk Revolting Rhyme we looked at in our last Zoom lesson.
Section 2- Blue

At ten p.m. or thereabout,

The little bean began to sprout.
By morning it had grown so tall
You couldn't see the top at all.
Jack was nimble, Jack was keen.
But just as he was near the top,
A ghastly frightening thing occurred --
Not far above his head he heard
A big deep voice, a rumbling thing





That made the very heavens ring.

It shouted loud, 'FEE FI FO FUM
'I SMELL THE BLOOD OF AN ENGLISHMAN!'
Jack was frightened, Jack was quick,
And down he climbed in half a tick.
'Oh mum!' he gasped. 'Believe you me
'There's something nasty up our tree!
'I saw him, mum! My gizzard froze!
'A Giant with a clever nose!'
'A clever nose!' his mother hissed.
'You must be going round the twist!'
                   B) Practice your section using the acting skills of expression listed below
                  Vocal expressions- pitch, tone, volume,                
                  Facial expressions - the movements in your face that communicate thoughts

                  Gestures- the movements of your body and hands to communicate thoughts
                  C) Record a 30 second video of you practicing/performing your section
                   Upload this into your Blog page

Learning Question:  What skills do you need to Perform a Revolting Rhyme? Outcomes: 1.  To perform Jack and the Beanstalk 2.  Understand Expression and Characterisation 3.  Demonstrate Rhyming Verse using Expression Activity: In groups (using zoom breakout rooms) rehearse Jack and the Beanstalk - Select sections you want to use, do not do all of the Revolting Rhyme Apply voice skills practiced from last session- tone, volume, pitch, intonation or accent Decide how you will divide the lines amongst those in the group. Can you use voices in  Unison - sections spoken at the same time with two or more group members OR  Canon - one after the other Find a rhythm beat to the dialogue Share with class. DRAMA- Revolting Rhymes - Lesson 5 Writing a Revolting Rhyme- 14th May 2020

Learning Question:  How can you write your own Revolting Rhyme? Outcomes: 1.  To understand Rhyming Verse and Timing 2.  Understand and use Creativity 3.  Work as a team and contribute ideas (you can arrange a Zoom meeting with a partner from your class to complete task) Activity: Complete the Revolting Rhymes of these well known tales by coming up with  at least  4 new lines. Try  using Rhyming verses -  try to use the rhyming couplets to complete new pairs of lines! Copy & paste Rhymes on your BLOG- The resource link for each Rhyme is give you ideas if needed. Activity- Create a social media profile of your favourite  Roald Dahl  Character The profile must include an image of the character  ( this can be drawn  by hand if you wish ) Description of the character (you can use quotes on how  Roald Dahl  describes them from he his books) Hobbies you think the character might have  Anything interesting you think should be added to the profile. For e.g.  if the character had a pet- what would it be and what would they call it?  Family members, siblings favorite cousin etc...  etc You can complete this task by hand if you wish then take a photo of the final product that add this to your BLOG Post                                                                             ...
